Designed for small and medium-sized businesses, offices, branch networks and professional installations, the ER605 is a high-performance wired VPN gateway that integrates into the TP-Link Omada SDN ecosystem.

It features five Gigabit Ethernet ports, including a dedicated Gigabit WAN port, dedicated Gigabit LAN connectivity, and configurable WAN/LAN ports that can be used to connect multiple internet services. This allows businesses to implement multi-WAN load balancing and internet failover, making it particularly useful where network uptime is important.

The ER605 supports multiple VPN technologies, including IPsec, OpenVPN, L2TP and PPTP, allowing businesses to create secure connections between offices, branches and remote users. Depending on the hardware version, TP-Link specifies support for up to 20 IPsec, 16 OpenVPN, 16 L2TP, and 16 PPTP VPN connections.

Security is another major strength. The gateway provides SPI firewall, DoS defence, IP/MAC/URL filtering, access control and VLAN support, helping administrators control traffic and protect the business network.

When integrated with the Omada Software Defined Networking platform, the ER605 can be centrally managed alongside compatible Omada switches and access points. Omada provides centralized management, monitoring, and cloud-based administration, making the ER605 especially suitable for businesses managing multiple networking devices or locations.

Newer ER605 hardware revisions also provide a USB 2.0 port for compatible 3G/4G modem-based WAN backup, giving businesses another option for maintaining connectivity when a primary internet line fails.
